This is the Annual Walk to d'feet to fight ALS ( Lou Gehrig's Disease). Proceeds benefit local patient programs held at Graceada Park annually during October. See the Todo Calendar for te exact date each year. Usually, registration is at 10 am and the walk is at 11:00 and with a post walk BBQ at noon. Some of their programs include art and food service training. Make sure you support their big annual Crab Feed that happens in March.

Carole Sund Foundation
After the violent death of their daughter Carole Sund, grand-daughter Juli, and Silvina Pelosso in the spring of 1999, Francis & Carole Carrington decided that anything they could do to prevent violent criminals from going free would be worth the effort. http://www.carolesundfoundation.com This organization has been intrumental in the assistance of many missing persons search campaigns. Coalition on Homelessness and Poverty
The Coalition on Homelessness been working since October, 2000 in Stanislaus County, first under the direction of the Coalition on Homelessness of San Francisco and now in partnership with New Hope Christian Fellowship where we have joined with several other ministries to form the Coalition On Homelessness And Poverty-Stanislaus County. They need your volunteer time, effort and financial support. They have recently opened the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson and need your help with a variety of projects, such as Friends of Hospice, Family Visits, Hope Chest Thrift Stores, and Office Projects.

Great Valley Center
The Great Valley Center has been one of the leading catylists of change in the central valley, putting the issues, the needs and the priorities of the central valley first. It's mission is stated "to support activities and organizations that promote the economic, social and environmental well-being of the California Central Valley" It has taken the lead on management of incredible growth, focus on transportation issues, gaining political attention for our region and making sure that we all have a voice and we are not run over by the major metro markets. Health Services Agency Foundation
Founded in 1982, the HSA Foundation is a volunteer organization that raises funds to support the work of the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency
(HSA). HSA provides over 260,000 patient visits on an annual basis to the citizens of Stanislaus County. Volunteers are needed for raising funds, working on special events and for assisting with daily operations of the agency. Call (209) 558-5858 for more information. www.hsahealth.org

Meth Action Team (MAT)
This Center for Human Services program links youth and adult partners in combating Methamphetine usage in our area. There are art and other community projects that assist with Meth intervention. Mighty Women of Modesto

The Mighty Women of Modesto is a California (501)c(3) Non-Profit Corporation. We provide an emergency shelter for women in need with room and board, counseling, and training. Each individual is assessed on a case-by-case basis. MWOM is a group of women dedicated to help their fellow woman. They need help with phone calls and cooking.

Modesto Jaycees
Modesto Jaycees Junior Chamber is the best organization for young people between ages 18-41, to learn leadership development, personal growth and community involvement. Servings our community since 1924 . The Jaycees do many great things in Modesto, including the organization of the annual Forth of July Parade, Picnic in the Park and the Annual Underprivileged Children's Christmas Shopping Tour. Operation We Care -
This is an information organization that helps link volunteers, relatives and families of active military on duty to the assistance and information that they need. There are lots of questions and decisions that familiy members have to make while soldiers are serving overseas. Parent Resource Center:
The Parent Resource Center strives to enrich the lives of our families through parenting education and emotional support. The center encourages positive parenting and promotes nurturing and bonding. There are many ways that you can assist this organization and they have an annual fundraiser to assist with the support of their programs. They also have the Book Buddies program to encourage reading in the family and to help provide books for familes with small children. New and gently used books are needed. Project Linus
Project Linus is a 100% volunteer organization. All dollars and materials donated go to supporting our organization getting blankets made and into the hands of a child in need. Our volunteers, known as Blanketeers” provide new, handmade, washable blankets to children who are traumatized, seriously ill, or in need. Although there are many ways to help, you can participate simply by making a blanket and donating it to our chapter for distribution to a child. Every style is welcome-quilts, crocheted or knitted afghans, fleece, etc —in child-friendly colors.The quiet gift of a warm hug created by your own hands is what you will achieve in the Project Linus program. Relief Inc.
Relief Inc. is a nonprofit based in Modesto. Liberian/American CEO Phebe Dennis Fortt's main purpose in life is to help the Liberian people survive then thrive through education. Relief has 4 phases - sending of survival goods, a hospital in Liberia, a Kids In School program to get kids back to school, a Women Of Worth program to educate the women so they become self sufficient. Volunteers, sponsors for Kids In School, and food are needed on an ongoing basis. Contacts, sponsors, and speaking engagements are critical to Relief. This is the place to support to help the homeless and the needy. Meals, childcare, and help for those in real need. Take the dollars that you would give to the "work for food" people and give it to the Salvation Army or the missions. The Salvation Army has the annual Kettle Kick Off that helps raise money for the people in need right here in our community. You can also sign up to be a bell ringer during the Christmas Holidays. You can help make a difference. Volunteers are also needed to help service meals at the Salvation Army Center. You can do this directly or work with a local Rotary Club as they prepare groups of people to provide meals. In Modesto, anyone that is truly hungry can get a square meal at the Salvation Army. No one is turned away.

SCAP
The Stanislaus Community Assistance Project, is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit agency established in 1985, which is dedicated to delivering comprehensive health and human service programs that improve the health and well-being of all underserved Stanislaus County residents. Our goals are to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in our community, ensure accessible, coordinated, and effective services for those people affected by HIV/AIDS and to provide education and information programs which promote understanding and sensitivity toward people with life threatening illnesses. Soroptimist International of Modesto is a business woman's service organization. We devote our efforts to community, regional, national and worldwide service projects. The S.P.C.A. of Stanislaus County is seeking volunteers and their pets to visit local convalescent hospitals and care facilities as part of their Pet Outreach Program. Visits are made the first and second Saturday mornings of every month and the third Wednesday morning.
Volunteers bring their own pets. Pets must be well behaved and up to date on their vaccinations. \

St. Andrew's Society of Modesto
St. Andrew's Society of Modesto organized in 1980, with it's first meeting in 1981, was established to further GAELIC HERITAGE and CULTURE for the residents of Stanislaus and it's surrounding counties. Through its activities, the Society offers a brief glimpse of the history, pageantry and customs of the past which still live in the hearts of many today. All Gaelic cultures, Scottish, Irish and Welsh, are represented. Whether your interest is in the "swing of the kilt," the drone of the bagpipe or the eating of scones, shortbread, bangers or soda bread, you'll find it encouraged by this Society. You don't have to be a Scotsman, Irishman or Welshman to participate. The only requirement is an interest in this colorful and unique bit of living history. The Stanislaus County Library Foundation
Promotes the enrichment of the county library system, by cultivating community involvement and support. The foundation has provided funding for special children's programs, scholarships for staff pursuing careers as professional librarians and support for an online book club that is available to all library customers. The Stanislaus County Healthy Marriage Coalition (SCHMC):
In an effort to reverse the destructive effects of poor relationships and to strengthen the family structure of our community the SCHMC advocates for strong, healthy life-long marriages and promotes the fact that it is in the best interests of our entire community that both fathers and mothers be active in the lives of their children; and works to prevent out-of-wedlock pregnancies. Our Mission is dedicated to strengthening families and couples through education, collaboration and mobilization. Our Goals are to reduce the number of divorce filings by 30 percent, reduce the number of out-of-wedlock pregnancies by 30 percent, increase father involvement by 30 percent. Our Strategy is to use research to identify significant problems facing the families and youth of Stanislaus County, to identify solutions that are based on traditional values and principles, to build broad public support for values-based solutions and through advocacy, communications and collaboration and to empower and equip local leaders and professionals who work with families who are also promoting values-based solutions and to provide support services that advance their effectiveness.

Stanislaus Union District Foundation

The Stanislaus Literacy Center

The Stanislaus PRIDE Center (SPC) was formed in the spring of 2005.  The mission of the organization is to provide resources that strengthen and support gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) persons living in Stanislaus and surrounding counties.  The organization has three areas of focus: culture & community; education & information; health & wellness.  The SPC's first dedicated community center facility is located at 823 15th St, downtown Modesto, between "H" & "I" streets, and across the street from the Stanislaus County Library.  Drop-in hours are Wednesdays through Saturdays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  GLBT groups can also gather/meet at the Center during other times by contacting coordinator@stanpride.org to schedule times/dates.  For more information about the SPC, contact info@stanpride.org or call (209) 338-0855.

Youth For Christ
Since 1948 Youth for Christ in the Central Valley has served valley teenagers and their parents.
With a full time staff of 12 and over 150+ volunteers, Youth for Christ reaches out to highly at-risk teens, offering them an opportunity to develop, discover and maximize their God given potential. Whether it be through on-campus Bible clubs, one-one-one visits at Juvenile Hall, neighborhood clubs that offer mentoring, and job training, teen parenting programs, or licensed counseling Youth for Christ believes every young person has the chance to experience a fulfilling life, develop strong, caring relationships, and contribute in a positive way to their family, neighborhood and community.
